I'm not sure if "Daily Ramblings" is really a good title for this, mostly because there will probably be nothing "Daily" about my posts here. Oh well, I like the title, for the moment at least.
I fine myself thinking about American foreign policy a lot tonight. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first being an idiotic article/blog I read a few hours ago which effectively claimed that the United States had a spotless record of promoting world peace for the last 231 years. I'm not sure how the writer could even begin to justify such a position but then I suppose that is why I thought it was rather idiotic.
The second reason that I've been thinking about it is because of our government's actions towards Iran over the past few days and the issuing of sanctions against the Revolutionary Guard. I'm not sure how the Bush administration plans to implement sanctions against only a portion of the Iranian military complex but then again that's just one in a long list of things that don't seem to make sense about the Bush administration's foreign policy.
My general thinking on American foreign policy at the moment is that any time the United States military gets involved with another country's internal matters on anything even resembling a permanent basis it never turns out well for the host country or the United States citizens, maybe United States corporations, but certainly not the citizens. Of course there could be some example where this doesn't hold true but I can't come up with any off the top of my head.
There are a few of the other things on my mind this evening besides United States interventionist policy such as the continuing drama with my most recent ex-girlfriend, the great time I had Thursday night and the cute girl wearing the scarf that I just couldn't seem to make any progress in talking to, and what CD to listen to next.
